What are things that prevent us from pleasing and doing the will of God?

The biggest distraction of God is friends when you hang out with ppl that u know influence you to do wrong. Best thing to do in this situation is avoid those type of ppl and keep friends that have a positive impact on your life.

One of the distractions that draw us away from God is simply that we are too busy to actually take time to listen to what God has for our lives. We need to "shut out the noise" in our daily lives even for just 5 minutes but those 5 minutes can change a person's life more than any video game or movie or anything else that a person does in their free time.

I agree with you Tony. I think most of us are so busy we sometimes forget about God. The distractions are too many. For most of us its work, school, video games or movies like you said. I remember reading something that BUSY means
B - Being
U - Under
S - Satans
Y - Yoke

One other big distraction is TV. And i am amazed at how bad (in terms of morality) things have become on TV. From where i come from things have changed very quickly and have taken a turn for the worse. its like people are always looking to see bad, wicked, immoral things happen. I remember watching this Movie, "The Condemned".It had me thinking about some of the things we yearn to see on TV.
I pray that God will help us and strengthen us we can stand for Him and make time to study His word in this perilous times.

Its true our friends influence us a lot.But my problem is that they INFLUENCE and not actually force us to do the things we do.So the decision still comes down to us.We have to remember we are responsible for our every action. We should let the word of God influence us as youth.We live in a perverse and corrupt generation.We its difficult to avoid people cos they are everywhere. In your school, workplace, communities and even in your churches.
I pray the good God will grant unto us the Grace to live lives that will be good examples to others, that will draw others to Christ Jesus.

Having Christian friends is good.But there are so many other reasons why we stray from God.There are so many other distractions.We have mentioned things like the TV.To keep in tune with God you must keep in tune with his word and you have to communicate with Him in Prayer.We need the strength of the Holy Spirit to guide us and lead us.Then we would not stray from God. Merely having Christian friends does not ensure we would not stray from God.
