Era odata o insula unde traiau toate sentimentele si valorile umane: Buna Dispozitie, Tristetea, Intelepciunea... si ca toti ceilalti, Iubirea.
Intr-o zi, locuitorii insulei au fost anuntati ca insula se va scufunda. Atunci fiecare isi pregati barca pentru plecare. Numai Iubirea fiind saraca si neavand barca personala ramase pana in ultimul moment. Cand insula fu pe punctul sa se scufunde, Iubirea se decise sa ceara ajutor.
Bogatia trecu pe langa Iubire cu o barca luxoasa si Iubirea ii vorbi: "Bogatie, ma poti lua cu tine?". I se raspunse astfel : "Nu te pot lua, caci e mult aur si argint in barca mea si nu am loc pentru tine."
Iubirea se hotara atunci sa ceara ajutorul Orgoliului care trecea si el pe-acolo intr-o nava superba. Zise : "Orgoliu, te rog, ma poti lua cu tine?". Orgoliul ii raspunse : "Nu te pot ajuta, Iubire. Aici e totul perfect si ma tem ca nu cumva sa-mi strici nava..."
Cand Tristetea trecu pe-acolo, Iubirea intreba din nou : "Tristete, te rog, lasa-ma sa vin cu tine !". "Oh, Iubire..." raspunse Tristetea, "sunt atat de trista incat trebuie neaparat sa stau singura".
Chiar si Buna Dispozitie trecu pe langa Iubire, dar era atat de multumita de sine incat nici macar nu auzi rugamintile ei.
Dintr-o data se auzi o voce : "Vino, Iubire. Te iau eu cu mine." Iubirea se intoarse si vazu un batran intr-o barca. Se simti atat de recunoscatoare incat uita sa-l mai intrebe pe batran cum il cheama. Cand ajunsera pe tarm, batranul pleca. Iubirea isi dadu seama cat de mult ii datora, si intreba Cunoasterea : "Cunoastere, imi poti spune cine a fost batranul care m-a ajutat?". "Era Timpul", raspunse Cunoasterea. "Timpul?" se intreba Iubirea "dar de ce tocmai Timpul m-a ajutat?". Cunoasterea ii zise :
"Pentru ca numai Timpul e capabil sa inteleaga cat de importanta e Iubirea in viata" !
